Customer wished to upgrade conveyor system, from the high level out-feed of a spiral freezer, to the packing line on ground floor, and to incorporate in this system, an oil spray unit, to apply an 'all over' coating of oil to various bread crumbed, frozen fish products, such as fish steaks and fish fingers. The project was put out to tender and Saturn were successful in gaining the contract. This was the first contract with Findus, for Saturn. The oil application was the heart of the project, and Saturn supplied a Discmatic DMA8TB machine, from their proven, world-renowned, range of 'spinning disc' spray machines. This is equipped with four discs above the product band, coating the top and sides of the products, and four discs underneath the product band, spraying upwards, to coat the underside of the products. The machine was positioned directly onto the out-feed of the spiral freezer. From the out-feed of the spray machine, product was then transported down an inclined conveyor, round a 180° bend, down another inclined conveyor, and through a 90° bend, to the packing line. The whole project was designed, built, installed and commissioned by Saturn, within the delivery timescale. During the commissioning period, Findus demonstrated their complete satisfaction with the project, by immediately ordering a second line from Saturn, without going to tender. The second line was similarly installed to schedule. |
